What should I know? Any tips about the best way to experience a rally event?
Any knowledge you would like to pass my way would be greatly appreciated.

Be quick on your feet. Wear comfortable shoes, don’t take chairs or any other unnessessary stuff with you to the spectator area.
See, the fun of a rally is that you’re almost a part of it. You get to a spectator area, watch the cars race through, and then hop in your car and drive as fast as you dare to the next spectator area, and repeat.
The last time I spectated a rally, before I got press creds, all the parking was along the side of a dirt road leading to the spectator area. We had to park and walk waaaaaay down the lane, but it ended up being fine, because we were near the entrance to the main road when we got back, and we didn’t have to sit in much traffic to get out.
So I’d just park there anyway, jog to the area, watch the cars, jog back, and split. I’ve thought about taking a bike with me, but I don’t know if that would work.
Don’t miss the parc expose, either. It’s a great time to get shots of the cars and meet the drivers. The service area is another. I stood at the entrance of a service area (while all the crowds were over by the trailers), and interviewed
Ken Block and Travis Pastrana.
And don’t be afraid to talk to people. Rally drivers are the most laid-back, fun-loving atheletes I’ve ever interacted with.

Don’t know where you’re driving from but avoid the “seney straight”. Shit is unbearable. If its on your route, go the long way. It’ll be more scenic and enjoyable.

Coming from Wisconsin, so that won’t be an issue.

I’ve been to a couple rallys, always as a volunteer though.
You can get up close to the action but only one or two points. The rest is sitting around and waiting.
Have snacks & water. If you don’t take them with you to spectate you can munch along the way. Dress appropriately, hoodie if necessary.
If you spectate good walking shoes.

Had one more question. Are you the driver or co-driver
